Alice Howe & Freebo
To hear Alice Howe sing is to be enraptured by the natural, unaffected beauty of her voice, “a marvelous instrument, strong and effortlessly musical, yet also capable of the sort of nuance that adds layers of meaning” (The Patriot Ledger). The Los Angeles-based, Boston-bred singer-songwriter-guitarist was named Best Female Artist at the 2023 International Acoustic Music Awards. On her second and latest album Circumstance, produced by her creative partner Freebo, the legendary rock bassist best known for his decade of touring and recording with Bonnie Raitt, and recorded at iconic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Alice displays her vocal prowess and introspective writing in abundance, mining both her heart and her musical tastes for a deep, personal journey across an Americana soundscape dotted with blues, folk, country, soul and rock. As an old soul inside a 30-something millennial, Alice puts her stamp on Americana’s venerable strands with 10 standout originals evoking both the classic singer-songwriters and the seminal music that once filled airwaves, roadhouses and juke joints.

The Songs & Stories Collective
The Songs & Stories Collective comprises three well-known acts from the UK country music scene – Donna Marie, Sarah Yeo and Tennessee Twin (Geoff & Victoria Meads).
The Collective was created during the long months of lockdown, when they would host a livestream every Sunday afternoon, playing a mixture of original songs and their own take on classic covers - and gaining a large following of loyal fans!
Hailing from Devon, Cambridgeshire and Warrington, Donna, Sarah, Geoff and Victoria rarely get the chance to perform together live – so this is a special occasion!
Danny Bradley
Growing up in Hull, now based in Liverpool, winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Judges’ Award 2021, Danny is a finger-style guitarist and songwriter who over recent years, has opened for some of the best guitarists in the business: Richard Thompson, Martin Carthy, Jon Gomm, and Jeffrey Foucault and most recently has toured with Fairport Convention.
Danny’s debut solo album, 'Small Talk Songs' was self-recorded in his Liverpool city centre flat, with three microphones. Throughout the recording process, he opened the door to his little fifth-floor balcony, so that the songs of the Scouse seagulls overhead could be heard lilting quietly in the background of this airy, richly recorded acoustic album.
“Bradley’s astonishing musicality on full view as his distinctly long fingers danced over the fretboard, combining intricate chord shapes and fluid melodic runs, intermittently adorned with dazzling harmonics, that collectively created a kaleidoscopic soundscape”… Graeme Tait, Americana UK
‘Mesmerising storytelling’ - At The Barrier
Kim Richey
It’s a great thrill to be welcoming back to Newbald the legendary Kim Richey.
Nashville based country singer-songwriter Kim has written for and with some of the biggest names in the business, commanding their respect and admiration for her heartfelt melodies, story-telling and humour. Best summed up by renowned Nashville songwriter Ben Glover thus: “She’s one of the best singers I’ve ever had the chance to work with.”
Kim last played in Newbald in early 2024 and went down a storm - this is a show you won’t want to miss!
In 2018 Americana-UK’s review of ‘Edgeland’ concluded with a summary that could have been applied to any of Richey’s work over the last 30 years or so.” This is an album of well written and stylishly presented songs. Skilled musicianship and a rich-toned voice have produced work of atmosphere and quality. It’s country music with a pop sensibility and a traditional backbone. A great listen and a great singer, singing her own songs.”
Red Sky July
Red Sky July are husband and wife duo Ally Mcerlaine (Texas) and Shelly Poole (Alisha’s Attic) along with esteemed vocalist Haley Glennie-Smith. The band’s sound is a blend of Alt-Folk, Country and Americana which has seen them gain considerable airplay, including being playlisted on BBC Radio 2.
Winners at the Scottish Music Awards, Red Sky July have toured extensively as well as appearing as special guests of the likes of Sheryl Crow, Steve Earle, 10CC, Tom Jones, Jools Holland and more.
Q magazine described their debut album as “a timeless blend of vocals & intricate twang… as atmospheric as it is emotional”.
Red Sky July’s third album ‘The Truth and The Lie’ saw them hook up with Grammy nominated Nashville based singer songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman.
The album went Top 3 in the Official UK Country Charts, with the Guardian newspaper describing it as “a modern country masterpiece”
Holly Carter
& Joe Wilkins
Holly Carter is an award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Bristol, UK. Two-time recipient of ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ at the Americana UK awards (2023 & 2024) she is widely recognised as an exceptional fingerstyle guitarist and one of the UK’s only professional female pedal steel players.
Drawing deeply from the well of the folk tradition, she harnesses an approach to song as a powerful tool for education and the preservation of legacy. Along with a show-stopping approach to guitar that follows hot on the heels of the likes of Chet Atkins and John Fahey, her music weaves joyously catchy melodies with thought-provoking lyrics that pay homage to a diverse collection of musical and personal heroes.
‘Holly brings masterful skills as a musician and composer, along with an engaging
commitment to music’s rich tradition of accompanying social change. Go see her!’
Martyn Joseph
Her live shows are a masterclass in using joy, humour and music to foster a sense of
community and hope, creating a profound sense of connection with the audience; it’s
easy to see how she has drawn comparisons with others for whom music is innately
connected with social activism, such as Billy Bragg and Marisa Anderson.
The Brooke Law Band
From provocative rock to soulful confessionals, Brooke Law has a voice that combines grace, grit and power. With a new album, Naked Heart, attracting great reviews, Brooke draws Influences from a range of artists from Janis Joplin to Alanis Morissette and backed by a full band, this promises to be one of the stand out shows of the year.
Brooke Law’s debut album is a bold statement - anchored by lead singles ‘Real’, ‘Big World’ and the upcoming ‘Freak On’, she invites us to strip away the noise of modern life and stand tall in our own truth. From provocative rock to soulful confessionals, this is music as both challenge and comfort. A challenge to a world growing dangerously artificial.
Her powerful voice, akin to rock icons yet wholly her own, blends grit and grace cueing to the core on an album that is both defiant and soulful. With influences ranging from Janis Joplin to Alanis Morissette, Brooke’s voice shifts from vulnerable whispers to defiant roars.
“Brooke Law captivated the room on the acoustic Arena stage. They queued to meet her afterwards as her powerful voice reeled them in and her exemplary songwriting held them there” - Maverick Magazine
Suzie Hungerleider
After 23 years away chasing dreams in Toronto, three-time JUNO nominee Suzie Ungerleider (formerly Oh Susanna) returned home to Vancouver, drawn by its salt air and towering trees. Her new album, Among the Evergreens, is a deeply personal journey through time, tracing her path from youthful dreams to the wisdom of experience.
“It’s about being like a tree with all those rings around you, the layers of your life telling you who you are and where you've been,” she says. Imagery of the outdoors, of green valleys and trees shedding their leaves, infuses this new collection and it is garnering high praise as one of her best.
Uncut Magazine describes Among the Evergreens as “thoughtful, luminous, expressive” and featured it as Americana Album of the Month for June 2025. Mojo Magazine’s four-star review glowed that these 10 new songs “are about as sweet as folk-Americana comes.”
Suzie brings her stories to life with her captivating voice and raw honesty. Inviting you into her world through poetic lyricism and mesmerizing melodies, she shares her experiences from teenage-hood to motherhood. “Here I am making songs back among the evergreens, a prodigal daughter, who is now a mother, asking, who was I then and who am I now, where have I been and what did I learn along the way?”
Expect an evening of heartfelt music and vivid storytelling that lingers long after the last note fades, leaving you among the evergreens, dreaming and remembering.
